How it Works

Our construction containment shrink wrapping service consists of a custom-fit cover using 10mm #4 low-density polyethylene resin. Our expert technicians will secure your equipment and structures by padding any sharp protrusions or valuable, fragile elements that you choose to leave in place.

We’ll then lay a cover over your equipment and apply a perimeter band, belly band and tethers. Once the cover is securely in place, our technicians will use a propane heat torch to heat the plastic, shrinking it into place tightly around your equipment.

What are the benefits of using shrink wrap for construction containment?

Can I use a blue tarp instead of shrink wrapping my construction equipment?

Theoretically, you can use a blue tarp to cover your construction equipment, but it will not stand up to the elements the way our shrink wrap will. Using custom-fit technology, we ensure that the shrinkwrap applied to your equipment and gear is 100% fitted to its shape and size, leaving behind no loose surfaces that may snag on other equipment or get blown away by the wind. Using tarps to cover your construction sites and equipment can lead to expensive damages. Tarps offer loose fits, which inevitably become untethered when exposed to severe weather. Under windy conditions, tarps can loosen from their clamps, flapping in the wind and exposing the equipment. They can also snag in transit or on other machinery near the storage site. Tarps can also fray and become worn over time due to rain, salt air, sand gusts, sun rays and hail, leaving your equipment unprotected.
How does shrink wrapping work?
Shrink wrapping is actually a customized cover made specifically for your item. The technician will pad and protect any sharp protrusions, or any valuable or fragile elements that you choose to leave in place.
- A piece of large plastic fabric is laid over the object.
- A perimeter band, a belly band and other tethers will also be used to tuck the plastic cover into place.
- After everything is nice and secure, our technician will use a propane heat torch to heat the plastic, causing it to shrink into place and tighten around your object securely.
How long does Olympic Shrink Wrap last?

Olympic Shrink Wrap is made from #4 low-density polyethylene that has a twelve-month U.V.I. protection. This guarantees that the material will not degrade from sun damage for twelve months. While we have seen Olympic Shrink Wrap last much longer than that, we can comfortably guarantee you up to twelve months of protection.

How is the shrink wrap kept in place while in transit?
Shrink Wrap stays in place primarily due to a combination of the high-quality polyethylene material we use and the intensive manner in which we apply the material, ensuring that all requirements and expectations are met.
- We use thick nylon strapping to run along the perimeter of your freight.
- We install a belly band that runs underneath the item, which will hold the wrap on, sort of like an oversized shower cap.
- If desired, we can provide additional protection such as sealing off the edges of the wrap, ensuring an air-tight fit.
